Brian Fallon (Gaslight Anthem) side project is wonderful

The Horrible Crowes are GA’s Brian Fallon and guitar fiddler Ian Perkins. Their stuff, from what I can tell, draws on everything that’s best about The Gaslight Anthem (and, by extension, Springsteen). Their sound is dark, poetic, wounded and pretty. Their first album is called Elsie.

Here’s the first single, Behold the Hurricane.

Sample lyric:

“And it’s such a shame”, I heard the wind say this morning
Be still my heart, I age by years at the mention of your name
What a pity this season, You remember me my lover
I don’t recognize myself, I’m not the man you love
Behold the hurricane. Behold the hurricane.

Also available, Black Betty and the Moon.
