Sad singer/songwriter of the day: Jesse Merchant

Canada’s Jesse Merchant (or JBM) released the album Not Even in July last year, which seems to be a delicate sliver of sadness and cool gray songs. Vocally, it’s a bit like Fleet Foxes, Jim James and Gregory Alan Isakov (below).

Couldn’t keep
My mind off you in everything I see

And it isn’t the way you hold a gaze
It isn’t the way you take the wave
But the way it feels to walk with you in the rain
You are the breeze
